Zardari-Nawaz meeting underway in Raiwind

LAHORE: The much-talked about meeting between President Asif Ali Zardari and PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif is currently underway at the Sharif residence in Raiwind, according to Mian Zain of News Alrat.
The leaders are expected to address a press conference at the conclusion of the talks, although no formal announcement has been made to that effect.
After the meeting, President Zardari will head to Islamabad for a cabinet meeting, which is likely to be held at the PM Secretariat.
Prominent personalities accompanying President Zardari in the meeting include PPP federal ministers Raza Rabbani, Raja Pervez Ashraf, Babar Awan, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Khurshid Shah and PPP Secretary General Jahangir Badar.
On the PML-N side, Nawaz Sharif is joined by his brother Shahbaz Sharif, Khwaja Asif, Zulfikhar Khosa and other senior party leaders.
The core issues under discussion in the meeting are the repeal of the 17th amendment, an invitation to the PML-N to rejoin the federal cabinet, and the implementation of the Charter of Democracy, sources say.
The PPP delegation is also said to have congratulated Nawaz Sharif on his acquittal earlier on Friday in the 1999 plane hijacking case.
